Claude connected to your tools vs Wemory

Plugging Claude into Slack, Notion, and Google Drive through MCP connectors gives it live access to what your team has written down. It solves search. It does not create memory: the reasoning and decisions inside each AI session are gone when the session ends, nothing is written back, and every teammate rebuilds the same context alone. Wemory is the write path those connectors are missing — it captures sessions, meetings, and documents into one curated, governed memory that every teammate's agent recalls from.

What this setup is good at

Connecting Claude to your tools via MCP is genuinely useful, and teams are right to do it. In one afternoon, with no new tool, Claude can pull the latest spec from Drive, check a Slack thread, or read a Notion page mid-session. For on-demand lookup of what already exists in your tools, connectors work exactly as advertised — and Wemory does not replace them.

Where connectors genuinely work

If the answer exists in a document, a Slack thread, or a Notion page, a well-connected Claude will find it. That covers a real share of everyday questions, costs nothing beyond setup, and involves no new vendor. Teams that say “we plugged Claude into all our tools and it works great” are describing this — and for retrieval of written-down knowledge, they are right.

The gap: access is read-only

The most valuable context your team produces never lands in those tools. The architecture trade-off debated in a two-hour Claude Code session, the reason a migration was abandoned, what your standup actually decided — none of it is in Drive or Notion unless someone stops to write it up, and mostly nobody does. Connectors can only retrieve what was written; they never write anything back. Every session starts from zero, and the same context gets rebuilt by every teammate, every week.

Search over raw sources also has no notion of truth. Ask a connector-equipped Claude about your pricing and it will surface three drafts, an outdated page, and a Slack argument — with no way to know which one your team actually settled on. Wemory's curation layer exists for exactly this: session decisions are extracted, conflicting knowledge is flagged and resolved, and what your team verified becomes the source of truth that recall returns first.

Wemory runs alongside your existing connectors, not instead of them: it is one more MCP server in the session — the one that remembers. It adds per-project access control so sensitive context stays with named people, a self-hosted edition, and costs 20 USD per seat with the first month free.

Which should you choose?

Keep your MCP connectors for live lookup — they are good at it. Add Wemory when you want what connectors structurally cannot do: capture what happens inside sessions and meetings, curate it into a source of truth, and share it across the whole team's agents.

Frequently asked questions

We connected Claude to all our tools and it works well. Why add anything?+

Because connectors only read. The context created inside your AI sessions and meetings — decisions, reasoning, dead ends — is never written anywhere, so it cannot be retrieved tomorrow, by you or anyone else. Wemory captures that context automatically and makes it the first thing every teammate's agent recalls.

Doesn't MCP already give Claude memory?+

MCP gives Claude access, not memory. An MCP connector lets Claude search a tool during a session; it does not persist what the session learned. Wemory is itself an MCP server — but one with a write path, curation, and team-level governance behind it.

Does Wemory replace our existing connectors?+

No. Teams keep their Slack, Notion, and Drive connectors for live lookup and add Wemory as the memory layer. They compose: connectors answer “what does the doc say”, Wemory answers “what did we decide, and why”.

What does Wemory cost?+

20 USD per seat per month, first month free, no card required, prorated seats with no commitment.
